The disastrous fire at Lulworth Castle on the 29th August 1929 reduced the lavish interior to a burnt out shell. The Main Hall at Lulworth Castle was previously an elegant drawing room with persian carpets, oil paintings and an ornate ceiling. The floors and ceilings were completely destroyed, the doorways and fire places on the upper floors being left stranded half way up the walls. English Heritage completed the restoration of Lulworth Castle in 1995. The Castle is now a popular venue for wedding receptions and concerts. Lulworth Castle Courtyard.
